On Saturday Nov 18th, hundreds of local Sligo people gathered on O' Connell St to see the turning on of the Christmas lights. This year’s lights were switched on by Mona McSharry, winner of gold medal at the World Junior Swimming
Sligo County Council was represented by Cathaoirleach Seamus Kilgannon, Cllr Rosaleen O’Grady, Cllr Tom McSharry and Cllr Marie Casserley. Sligo Business Improvement District would like to thank Michael McDonagh and his team for the seamless installation of the 47 frames, 16 wrapped trees and over 40,000 fairy lights.
This year, a selection of carols was sung by participants of the Sligo Choral Festival and thank you to all our local residents who came out to join in the festivities.
The Christmas lights will be in place for the duration of the Christmas period and are organised as a joint venture between Sligo County Council and Sligo BID.
