Largest ever crowds expected for CANNONBALL in Sligo with epic new free family entertainment line-up: Saturday September 9th, Sligo, 6.30pm.
190 supercars and novelty cars, free family festivals, celebrities, over 1000km of Irish open roads, almost €900,000 raised for Irish charities and the awesome sight of over 160,000 excited spectators coast to coast waving chequered flags from September 8th -10th 2017.
On Saturday, September 9th at 6.30pm, CANNONBALL is coming back to Sligo with the support of Sligo County Council, Sligo BID and Purple Flag. Top mark cars including McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce and Bentley will blaze a trail through Dublin, Kinsale, Limerick, Galway Plaza, Claremorris, Sligo, Mullingar and Moneygall with a dramatic finish line in Kilkenny but this year, for the first time, the supercar spectacle will be preceded by some EPIC free family fun.
The Hone Energy Transformer Truck is a gigantic mobile rig coming from The Netherlands to Ireland for the first time ever. The rig transforms into a three-story children's play zone including crawling tubes, rope ladders, a network of tunnels, slides, a stage, a ball pit, transparent floors, screens and a fog machine! Hone, the revolutionary new renewable energy provider, is the CANNONBALL main headline Sponsor for 2017.
Also headlining this year and taking to the streets ahead of the Cannonball convoy are the Audionetworks Action Heroes and Robots. Transformer supercar legend Bumblebee will be body popping and meeting fans along with his co-star, the 12ft Robot Ted and action hero Batman. Optimus Prime will also join the Cannonball Conboy this year in his gigantic 'vehicle mode'!
The Cannonball Official Grid Girls and Brazillian Dancers will set temperatures soaring and the Monster Truck will have fire breathers and some great tunes to get the party started and some great free giveaways. Doc and Marty McFly will be Back to the Future this year in the fully kitted out Delorean and the notorious NYPD, German Polizei, Fr Willie and colourful Cannonballers in crazy costumes add to the melee. It is an unmissable and totally unique free family day out.
Thousands are expected to line the streets of Sligo this year at 6.30pm on September 9th as the Cannonball Official Finish Line for Day 2 in the town centre. Spectators can get up close and personal with 190 of the finest cars on the planet and enjoy the unique festival atmosphere that Cannonball is renowned for. Drivers will rest up in Sligo overnight with over 350 bed nights books for the crew and drivers alone. Spectators are also expected to flock to the town from neighbouring counties. Now in its ninth year, CANNONBALL has raised almost €900,000 for Irish Charities and this year, proceeds will go to Make-a-Wish Ireland.
Cannonball has always had a star-studded celebrity following including former Miss World Rosanna Davison and husband Wes Quirke, Models Roz Lipsett, Hazel O Sullivan, Georgia Salpa, Emma Quinlan, Holly Carpenter, Roz Purcell and many more. BRUNO MARS even showed up one year to join Shane Lynch for a quick pit stop in Cork! Ryan Tubridy, Eoghan McDermott, Glenda Gilson, Nicky Byrne, Soap Stars Ryan and Adam Thomas, Miriam O Callaghan, An Taoiseach and Former President Mary Robinson have all dropped the famous chequered flag and this year will not disappoint in the celeb stakes!
