James Morrison left his native Sligo on a transatlantic journey to America in 1915. One hundred years on, Fleadh 2015 presents a spectacular showcelebrating Morrison’s incredible legacy as a major music, dance and Irish language figure in both countries. An all-star line-up led by Sligo fiddler, Oisín Mac Diarmada as Musical Director brings together fiddling legend Frankie Gavin with a host of renowned musicians and singers from all over Ireland and the United States including Catherine McEvoy, John Blake, Seán McKeon, Marcas Ó Murchú, Séamus O’Donnell, Daithí Gormley, the group Téada and New York’s Tony Demarco, Rose Flanagan and Senior All-Ireland Fiddle Champion 2014 Dylan Foley. Outstanding young musicians from Sligo and New York will showcase the teaching legacy of Morrison “The Professor” while World Champion dancers The Walsh Brothers from Tubbercurry accompanied by members of the Sylvan Kelly School of Irish Dance will have you dancing in the aisles.
