In March 2015, local Sligo doctor Sinead Farrell is going as a volunteer to Gulu, in northern Uganda for three months working in St Mary’s Hospital Lacor.
St Marys is a non-profit privately funded referral hospital, with almost 500 beds and treats a quarter of a million sick patients a year. 70% of its funding comes from overseas donations. It serves the area of Gulu, linked to St Jude’s Children’s Home.
