Harp Festival of Moons – Slish Wood

Yeats included the moon and landscape in much of his literary work and his connection to the harp as both a national emblem and a symbol on our coinage inspired the idea of hosting a harp focused event on the full moon of every month of 2015.

As it is a blue moon year, with 13 full moons instead of 12 there will be 13 events in 2015.  These events will take place in locations mentioned in the poet’s work or connected to his life in some way.

The first event took place in 5 Sandymount Avenue, Dublin at 5 pm on Monday, January 5th 2015.

This privately-owned birthplace of WB Yeats was provided by the kind generosity of Mr. Alan Tilly and his wife Charlie and was supported by the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

The next event will take place on Thursday March 5th atKiltartan Church, Galway. Hosted by the Yeats and Lady Gregory Trail and Harpists of Athenry Music School.  There is no charge but donations will be accepted towards the festivals.
