Fiddle player Brian Rooney emigrated in the late 1960s from Leitrim to London. From a large family near Kiltyclogher in North Leitrim, Brian Rooney ‘s home house was always said to have been ‘full to the rafters with music’.
He was delighted to find an already established and vibrant traditional music scene in London when he landed, and indeed Brian became a powerful musical influence in that scene over the years. With tone rhythm and variations that have become legendary at this point and we are delighted to bring The Godfather one of the master fiddlers and great musical influences of our time to Sligo for a rare performance.
